Fierce Love

 

That's the kind of love that holds on even when things are rough

When the world is against you

When the shadows lengthen

When the storms blow icy hail

The stars go out and the moon don't shine and the night is tough

When the air is hot and thick

Or the air is cold and dark

When you have to fight for love

That's the kind of love that never stops or says "enough."

That's the kind of love I have for you.

Across that vast, big blue water

On the other side of those mountains

Down the hills and across the valleys

Over the fields and through the woods

Somewhere over there

The Road

 

The road leads on up the hill and over,

Through the wheat, corn, and clover.

Bruised by tractors, trucks, and feet,

It ends where the fields and woods meet.

Soft, quiet, full of life unretained,

Wild, chaotic, mostly unmaintained,

But beautiful where dreams fly free,

And I can sit, just You and me.

I Won't Forget

 

Some moments are locked into my memory forever. This is one such memory. 

You and me together by the water.

Special moments are sometimes rare, but when they happen, I hold on tight.

And, remember, I won't forget you.

Thunder Boom

I love rain crashing down in the summer.

I love to hear that first thunder rumble in the distance.

I love to feel the quiet peace before the storm.

And I love to hear that sudden thunder boom.

Always

I'm finding that I'm always looking into the sky. 

Always flying in my heart. 

Always just as excited to see an airplane as the kids are. 

Always dreaming of soaring above the farms on metal wings. 

I'm finding that dreams can stay stuffed down in my soul or let go to fly free as they were meant to.

Dreams don't just happen though, not usually anyway.

And dreams happening take work.

It ain't always easy, but I think it might always be worth it.

Looking for a Place

Yep, just standing here looking for a place to rest. And, I guess I'll just keep lookin' till I find it.

I Miss You

Sometimes I forget you're mine. Sometimes I wonder why I hardly even know you.
