On A Cloudy Day

On a cloudy day when the rain dumped from heaven, and the sun was shy, I remembered the blue skies of yesterday. 

I remembered your smile and your hugs. 

And the rain poured down, the trees dripped, the sky was low, I remembered that the sun will shine again. 

Sullen Silence

A sullen silence

I watch the trees move slowly in the calm afternoon

I watch the grayness sift through the air

A calm stillness that makes me sit and stare

But my mind wanders in sullen silence to a place far away

I think of my friend I saw another day

I hope it won't be long but that I'll see you again soon

But now I sit and ponder

In a sullen silence.

A Deep Longing

All of this pain and hurt

Distraught

Torn and broken

Afraid

Wondering worried

I dig down deep into this dark, black hole I call my heart

I search to find out why

The fear

The horror

So much confusion and confliction

I cannot seem to find the answers

But all I seem to find is

A deep longing for home. 

Hard Fall

They talk about falling in love

I could say it was a fall

But it was more like a hard thump

A very hard, painful fall

I fell without wanting to

I fell so hard and so fast I couldn't get back up

Not for a while anyway

The struggle that struggled was hard

I don't know

In the end, I'm glad I fell

I respect the initial pain, the hard fall

But now life is good and better than before

I Was Thinking

I was thinking about how good food is. I was thinking about how glad I am that God made so many flavors. He could have made one thing, one thing that was full of everything we needed, and we wouldn't know anything else. We would be fine. But, instead, He gave a million flavors and then gave us brains to know how to combine flavors to make another million or so more flavors. I was thinking about how cool that is. 

Foolishness

 We could leave the wisdom of man

for the foolishness of God

and be happier people.

Over There

 

The sun sets in the west

And somewhere over there

Is where you are

And I miss you.
